Caroline Coomber School of Dance

COMPETITION

Falkirk  30 April 2017

The Dancesport Scotland competition in Falkirk on Sunday 30 April was a huge success. Our Dance School has been regular attenders at these competitions for about eight years now and I have never seen such a huge turnout of dancers and spectators. Normally the competition will finish by around 5pm but we didn't set off home until 7.30pm.

It is all very encouraging as Dancesport Scotland need as much support as possible in order for them to keep organising these competitions. Congratulations to the Dancesport Scotland Committee and everyone attending for making the whole day such a success.

All ages, shapes and sizes and abilities took part. From Beginners to Scottish Champions; from 4-year olds to 80-year olds. Any of you can compete! There are categories for every standard of dancer. (Get in touch with me if you need any more information about this and if you are interested in having a go!)

Our three couples did us proud. They all were immaculately dressed in their finery, and despite the large number of couples dancing against them in each category they got on with the job and gave it their best.

Results are as follows:

Frankie Barton and Kirsteen Fraser:
2nd in the Over 35 Novice Cha Cha Cha & Rumba

Brian Watt and Kathy McGrath Gunn:
6th in the Over 35 Novice Waltz & Tango
4th in the Over 35 Cha Cha Cha & Rumba

Peter Alexander and Jo Bugden:
4th in the Open Intermediate Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep
2nd in the Over 35 Intermediate Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep
5th in the Open Intermediate Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive
2nd in the Over 35 Intermediate Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive

Well done to all three couples.

The next competition is again at Falkirk Town Hall and takes place on Sunday 24 September.
