Caroline Coomber School of Dance

Professional Tuition in Ballroom, Latin, Rock 'n' Roll, Sequence, and Belly Dance

Come along and experience the joy of learning to dance at our regular sessions in Elgin, Lossiemouth, and Nairn. Ballroom, Latin American, Sequence, Rock 'n' Roll, and Belly Dance are all taught by Caroline Coomber, a Professional Dance Teacher who is a member of the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dance and an Associate of the International Dance Teachers Association.

Our sessions include classes, workshops, practice sessions, private tuition, wedding tuition and social dance events, medal work, and competition work.

Once a year we hold a Medal Test Day, and we regularly invite top class Professional Dancers to the area to demonstrate and lecture for us. In the last few years we have had Richard Still and Morgan Hemphill; Ben Taylor and Stefanie Bosen; Michael and Lauren Hemera; and AJ Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt, formerly of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Beginners Class in Nairn

Dance classes in Nairn Highland Welcome to our Beginners Ballroom & Latin Class on Monday evenings 5.30pm, at the Royal British Legion in Nairn.

Learn to dance in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Professional tuition provided by Caroline Coomber (member of the UKA and IDTA).

This Class covers the basics of Ballroom dances such as Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz, and Latin dances such as Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Samba and Jive.

We cover basic routines so that these are easy to remember for dancing socially.

This new Class is in addition to the two existing Classes at 6.30pm and 7.35pm, which are going so well that I don't want to make any changes to them.

We have a nice venue at the British Legion. Big floor and plenty of space. Quite a low ceiling so the acoustics are fine as well.

Any questions, just get in touch.

Rock 'n' Roll & Sequence Dance Classes

Rock 'n' Roll, Thursday evenings 7.05pm, in Elgin
This Class has been running successfully for a few months now, and although it’s quite a small Class, the formula seems to work well.
It is a totally different class to all the others we run. Basically, couples and individuals can come along at any time and learn Rock 'n' Roll dancing at their own pace. Everyone just practices what they know and Steve and I go round helping out and suggesting how the routine can be developed. Even people totally new to any sort of dancing will find this class suitable as we give you individual attention to get you started on the basics and then your routine develops from there. During the session we have 2 or 3 short breaks where we teach you figures that you may want to add in to your routine.
The Class has a lovely atmosphere and everyone is happy and smiling and enjoying themselves.

Sequence Dance, Friday afternoons 12 noon, in Elgin
This daytime Class is suitable for people with a bit of dancing experience and we cover a variety of Sequence Dances, usually two per class.
There are thousands of Sequence Dances. You get Sequence Dances in all the Ballroom and Latin Dances and also Classical Sequence or Old Time Dances such as Saunters, Tangos, Waltzes, etc. You also get Mambos, Blues, Bossa Novas, Salsa, etc, and there are more being developed all the time.
All Dances are scripted and they all have a name and everyone dances the same steps at the same time around the room once the Dance has been learned. There is a huge variety and there are some beautiful and interesting Dances.

Please contact me for info.
