Caroline Coomber School of Dance

Professional Tuition in Ballroom, Latin, Rock 'n' Roll, Sequence, and Belly Dance

Come along and experience the joy of learning to dance at our regular sessions in Elgin and Inverness. Ballroom, Latin American, Classical Sequence, and Rock 'n' Roll are all taught by Caroline Coomber, a Professional Dance Teacher who is a member of the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dance and an Associate of the International Dance Teachers Association.

Our sessions include classes, workshops, practice sessions, private tuition, wedding tuition and social dance events, medal work, and competition work.

Once a year we hold a Medal Test Day, and we regularly invite top class Professional Dancers to the area to demonstrate and lecture for us. In the last few years we have had Richard Still and Morgan Hemphill; Ben Taylor and Stefanie Bosen; Michael and Lauren Hemera; and AJ Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt (who are now working as Professional dancers on 'Strictly Come Dancing').

Saturday 7 April at Lossiemouth Town Hall:
Medal presentation & Demonstration with
Michael Hemera & Lauren McFarlane Hemera

Our demonstration couple for 2018 are Michael Hemera and Lauren McFarlane Hemera. They will perform a 5 Dance Latin Show for us on the evening of Saturday 7 April at Lossiemouth Town Hall. They will also present Medals and Certificates to those who did their exams in September.

Michael and Lauren demonstrated for us in 2013 just before they won their Closed British Amateur title. They have held the British Closed Latin American title as Amateurs and as Professionals, and they represent Britain in European and World Championships. They are a very charismatic couple who you will absolutely love.

Here are two clips of Michael and Lauren performing in competition:
WDC Professional Rising Star Latin - Final Cha Cha Cha
WDC Professional Rising Star Latin - Final Jive

Tickets for the event are now on sale, and cost £18 for adults and £5 for children. To be purchased in advance.

On the morning of Sunday 8 April they will be leading a couple of Latin workshops at Lossiemouth Town Hall. £7.50 per person per workshop payable at the door.

This is a great opportunity to see one of the top professional couples in the country live and up close! Having top dancers in this area doesn’t happen often. It is expensive to organise, hence the price of the tickets, and I wouldn’t be able to do this without your support.

Fabulous Medal Tests Weekend

On 29 & 30 September we had a fabulous Medal Tests weekend: a mixture of Medal Tests, Workshops, private lessons, and Social Dance evening. Joan Martin, our examiner, was just amazing and gave us so much of her time during her stay. She was so wonderful to everyone and having a friendly examiner makes all the difference when it comes to nerves! I am so proud of all those who took their tests. You all worked so hard and you all danced so well just when it mattered on the Big Day.
