Well done to our amazing couples. I am so proud of everyone.

I had the privilege of being asked to judge at the competition along with my fellow judge Yvonne Scott and Chairman of Judges, Liz Hannah. Liz has the unenviable role of organising the music for these competitions but due to one of the judges not turning up, she ended up judging as well. You have to have a licence from the British Dance Council to judge at a competition and Liz was the only other teacher in the building that had that licence. She was an absolute hero.

There was a huge entry in this competition and the dancing was of a very high standard which made judging very difficult. You only have just over a minute to assess everyone on the floor and your concentration has to be spot on. The competition started at 12 noon and finished at about 7pm. An enjoyable but challenging experience.

The Dancesport Scotland Committee work extremely hard and spend long long hours organising these events and they have to be congratulated on the work that they do. They depend on our support to keep these competitions going so thank you to all of you who provided that support on Sunday. As I said earlier, I have never seen such a busy Aberdeen Competition so it looks like things are going in the right direction.

The next Dancesport Scotland Competition is the biggest event of the year, the Scottish Closed Championships event at Glasgow Marriott Hotel on Sunday 2 December. We will have Peter Alexander and Joanne Bugden representing us here. Peter had a hip operation in June and the surgeon warned him that there was a chance that he wouldn't dance again afterwards. Peter has proved him wrong though by getting back into his dancing again within a very short space of time along with his lovely partner Jo. We all wish them the very best in Glasgow.
